The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles honored Phil Hill and celebrated
the 24 Hours of Le Mans, along with other famous American drivers who raced there, on November 11, 2004. The dinner,

including Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney, Jim Hall, Bob Bondurant, Parnelli Jones, Jim Busby, Rick Knoop, John Morton, Steve Earle,
Danny Sullivan, Chuck Daigh, Tony Adamowicz, Chris Cord, Stefan Johansson and Dick Guldstrand, along with legendary motorsport
photojournalist Bernard Cahier and Road & Track's John Lamm, and over 600 attendees. Ford Motor Company was the
primary sponsor of this Checkered Flag 200 event. Mazda supplied additional
support and displayed the Jim Busby Racing/Rick Knoop team of Lola-Mazda T616 Le Mans cars.

A PHIL HILL FAVORITE
Forever special to Phil are the Apennine
Hills above Maranello, Italy, where this photo was shot in the village of Serra Mazzoni nearly 50 years ago
while he tested a Scuderia Ferrari 250 TR, the same type with which, in 1958, Hill won his first
of three 24-Hours of Le Mans with co-driver Olivier Gendebien.
Phil Hill's career in automobile racing ... from his earliest years driving
MG, Jaguar and Alfa-Romeo, and into his Ferrari sports car years of many victories including winning the 24-Hours of Le Mans
and the 12-Hours of Sebring three times each ... and on to Formula One where in 1961, driving F1 Ferraris, Phil Hill became
America's first World Driving Champion. Phil Hill's new book from publisher Dalton Watson, in which Phil collaborates
with photographer John Lamm and book designer Chuck Queener, is a stunning, first-hand history of Phil Hill's
career in Phil's own words.
